Rob Greenly Physician Executive Coach Leader

As Director of Doctor Leader Coaching & Consulting, Rob Greenly applies twenty years of corporate leadership experience to help doctoral-level professionals working in a business setting become more effective managers and leaders.  Rob has coached doctoral-level experts to understand corporate politics and maneuver more effectively in a political environment, to better communicate, inspire, and lead business or research teams, and to become more strategic in the ways they interact with others as a senior executive.

Rob earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from the Yale University School of Management.  He is a Certified Professional Coach and undertook advanced training to earn the designation of Certified Physician Development Coach, which is relevant to any doctoral-level executive.  He is qualified in an array of assessment and development tools including the Hogan Assessment Suite, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Firo-B, Strong Interest Inventory, LEA, Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessment, and others.

Throughout his career, Rob has focused on developing both individuals and teams in corporate settings, especially in biotech, high tech, medical device, and pharmaceutical companies.  His own leadership experience includes positions as:

  • Corporate Vice President of Leadership and Organization Development at Boston Scientific Corporation
  • Director of Organization Development and Training at Astra Pharmaceuticals.
  • Director of Leadership at the MIT Sloan School of Management
  • Chief Administrative Officer for Human Resources at Putnam Investments
  • Principal Consultant at Digital Equipment Corporation’s Management Sciences Group
  • Senior Associate at McBer and Company

Rob’s coaching and consulting experience includes work with AstraZeneca, Becton Dickinson, Covidien, Fallon Community Health Plan, GE Health Care, Genzyme, Harvard-Vanguard Medical Associates/Atrius Health, The Medicines Companies, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, MITRE, Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, Shering-Plough, and UMass Memorial Medical Center.  Also, Rob has coached or consulted to AIG/American General Insurance, Brown University, CVS/Pharmacies, Epsilon, General Electric, Harvard University, IBM, ICI, Liberty Mutual, Merrill Lynch, National Institutes of Corrections, Raytheon, SAIC, State Street Bank, the United States Navy, Verizon, The Volpe Center, and many others.

Rob has presented nationally at the American Management Association and the American Society for Training and Development conferences.  He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal on the importance of “soft skills” to leadership success and in The Boston Globe on techniques for organizational skills.  Fast Company magazine’s website featured Rob as part of their “Leading in the East Roadshow.”

In addition to delivering leadership workshops at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Rob has been a guest lecturer at Bentley College, Simmons College, Harvard University, Suffolk University, and Tufts University.  Previously, Rob co-authored “Command Effectiveness in the U.S. Navy.”

Rob was elected by his fellow alumni to serve on the Board of Directors of the Yale School of Management (SOM) Alumni Association and was the 2007 – 2010 SOM Delegate to the Association of Yale Alumni.  He also was elected as Chair of the Yale SOM Boston-area chapter. The Alumni Association presented Rob with their first annual Alumni Leadership Award. For the Human Resources Leadership Forum, Rob was Co-Chair of the Career Services Committee.  He is a licensed coach for Newton Girls Soccer and is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
